Not so fun...

That was how our last weekend went (besides the Christmas program, which went well).  Jase started getting what I thought was a "cold" earlier in the week.  But it progressively got worse, so I ended up taking him to the doctor on Thursday.  He was having wheezing spells and I was worried.

Now, if you don't know me, I am an asthmatic.  I was diagnosed with asthma when I was Jase's age.  My asthma is not just brought on by colds or allergies... it's pretty much an everyday part of my life.  We always thought I'd grow out of it, but unfortunately that was never the case.

This is the 3rd "wheezing" episode we've had with Jase in the past few months.  None of them have been anything too major, but it's still scary (and has to be taken care of).

I was dreading the doctor appointment - knowing what they were going to tell me.  But I also knew he was sick.

We saw a different doctor than normal, last minute, and I warned her that he had Mycoplasma (walking pneumonia) a month ago with the exact same symptoms.  However, she felt that this was just asthma related brought on by a cold.  We left the doctor's office with a round of steroids, inhalation solution for the nebulizer, and a cute little puppy dog mask. :)

By Saturday, I thought he'd be much better... but that was not the case.  He was worse, actually.

So back to the doctor we went.  LUCKILY, our doctor was on call that day and was able to see Jase.  He immediately said... "He's got Mycoplasma."  He ran the blood work/chest x-ray and of course, he was right.

The worse news, however, was that he definitely does have asthma.  After 2 wheezing spells after the of the age of 2, they can diagnose it accurately.

We are hoping and PRAYING it is just an intermittent case - nothing like I have dealt with for 25 years.  I wouldn't wish that on anyone.. especially my baby boy.  We have big dreams for our little guy, and I don't want this to hinder anything he decides to do in life.

He's still getting over his sickness, taking regular breathing treatments everyday... but he's such a trooper.  He never complains, and never fights it.  He knows it has to be done.  Possibly it's because he's seen me do it for so long, he thinks it's just normal.  Whatever the case, I'm very proud of him!

Now then.... I never told anyone (other than our family) that Jase had walking pneumonia... so if anyone's children come down with it after being at church Sunday, I sincerely apologize.  I normally wouldn't take a sick baby to breathe on other babies... but I couldn't let him miss his program either.  :)

Weekend in Review...

As I mentioned in a previous post, this past weekend was Jase's very first Christmas program @ church with the KidForce children's department.  The toddlers started the show off... they marched in, up to the stage, and sang several Christmas tunes.  They were adorable!

I have to admit, I was a little teary-eyed seeing my baby up there, singing like a big boy.

But I know he's gonna be talented... I can just feel it. :)

And I sure hope so.

That was pretty much the highlight of our weekend... there was a "not so fun" part of it, too...

But we'll get to that on the next post.

Here's some more pics...

FINISHED!

I'm completely finished with my Christmas shopping AND it's all wrapped!

I don't think I've ever been finished this early (especially considering I've been done for about 2 weeks).
But I am SO glad... and a tad proud of myself. :)

A New Project...

I'm always looking for new things to do... crafty things... to take up some of my spare time. :)

For the past few weeks, I've been researching how to make jewelry.  I found these really cool glass tile pendants on a blog I follow.  They seemed so simple to make, and I just had to try them.

Now I'm hooked.  I have had so much fun trying different designs.  I also created a little album on Facebook where people can order any kind they want - I'll customize it any way you want.  If you want to visit, here's the link:

I would LOVE it if you found something you liked (or something you would like me to make just for you)!  They make great gifts... and there are so many options!

I'm also working on ID Badge holders... for all of you nurses out there!

Have fun browsing.

A Mish Mash...

... That's what this post is gonna be.

I haven't been doing so well keeping up with my blog since Thanksgiving.... but then again, not much has gone on.  But I'll just fill you in on the "not so interesting" parts of my life lately...

Jase has FINALLY decided that using the potty is fun.  BREAKTHROUGH, PEOPLE!  I'm so excited.  We're still in diapers, but he's been telling me when he needs to pee-pee throughout the day.  So, I know we're getting there QUICKLY and our days of underwear are in the near future!

Thanksgiving was great!  So glad to see some of my "out of town" family.  And all of my other family members, too!  We had a great weekend.  And best of all, my hubby spent it ALL WITH ME!  No hunting, whatsoever.  5 WHOLE DAYS!  Fun times.

This week, I've started a new project that I'm SO excited about!  I've started making necklaces (and some other cute little things).  I'll do a complete post on this at a later date.

Tomorrow, I'm getting my hair done.... WOOHOO!  It's been too long, and I'm overly excited!

And finally, tomorrow night I'm going to have a fabulous dinner @ my MOST FAVORITE place, Firebird's.  And guess what....  IT'S FREE!  Yep.  We're finally getting to take part in Jason's crew's 6-month safety meal... about 6 months late.  But I'll take it!!!  LOVE me some peppercorn steak... I can taste it now!

Sunday, my baby is going to be in his very first Christmas play... it's a small part (well, not really a part at all) but it matters to me!  Even though the play is for the Children's department (ages 4 and up), they let the toddlers come in to sing a few songs.  We've been practicing for weeks, and he's READY!  So is Mommy.  I'll have my camera in hand, ready to snap away.  Pictures to come!

That's about it, folks... until next time.

Roll Tide. :)

and the diet begins.... NOW!!!
I ate WAY TOO MUCH this Thanksgiving (and the days that followed).

I probably gained 10 pounds.

I must do something about that starting today... well, maybe tomorrow.

Today, I cleaned the house from top to bottom AND decorated for Christmas.

I think that counts as exercise.

Just a few things...

... I'm thankful for.

My sweet Lord who knew I wouldn't be perfect, but still sacrificed everything for me.

The roof over my head... it may not be the biggest but it's been PERFECT for our little family and I'm so thankful we found it!

My lovely parents... who raised me right and gave me EVERYTHING I ever needed (or wanted, for that matter), and are still here today to make life easier.  I'm a lucky girl.

My in-laws (sorry, I couldn't find a pic of Papa... he hides from the camera), who raised a wonderful son (3 of them, actually) and LUCKILY, I found him!!!

My best friend, whom I could go ON and ON about.  But we'd be here all day.  I love you.

For my baby boy... who is the light of my life.  I couldn't make it without you.

And for moments like this... they don't last long enough.
