peanut butter chocolate chip CAKE MIX cookies

I ran across this recipe today on Plain Chicken's blog.

I've only made one other recipe for "cake mix" cookies.  I can't wait until my kitchen is complete so I can play around with other flavors.

These are so simple.  The ingredients?  You probably already have them on hand.

You'll need...

1 box yellow cake mix
2 eggs
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups chocolate chips

I didn't have 2 cups of chocolate chips.  So I improvised.
I had a little left in a bag of semisweet chips and a little left in a bag of peanut butter chips.
So I used both.

Combine all ingredients (the recipe says to save the chocolate chips for last, but I forgot and dumped them in.... didn't seem to hurt anything) and mix together using a hand mixer.

Spoon batter onto a greased baking sheet, or one lined with parchment paper, and bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.  I ended up baking mine for about 12 minutes b/c they were a little larger than the recipe suggested.

Don't they look yummy???

They were!

I'd call this recipe a success.

Next time, I'd like to try crunchy peanut butter and MORE chocolate chips.

They are light and fluffy and very "cake like."

Hope you try them out!

WOW.... 6 months

I cannot believe that 6 months have passed....

and that we've been homeless for that WHOLE 6 months. :)

My baby boy is growing up so fast.

let's talk about it...

I have a brand new project that I'm super excited about!

Better Together started out as a way for me to share stories about our little family.  But I've also spent some time sharing about my love for makeup and girly things.

Time to make a change.

I have created a NEW BLOG devoted to makeup, beauty, and all that jazz.

I REALLY REALLY HOPE that you'll check it out and subscribe if you are interested.  And if you have a minute, please share it with others.  I would love to make a place where we can share our thoughts and ideas!

say it isn't so...

Come next August, I'll be screaming that.

I just can't believe my baby is growing up so fast.

Yes, there are days when I'd like an hour or two to myself.  But I'm one of those moms who'd much rather have my babies at home with me.
However, I know it's part of growing up... and I have to suck it up.

Today, I took my baby to preschool for the first time.
Luckily, he was only there for a few hours.  I couldn't wait to pick him up!  And thank goodness, he had a great time!

And on the not-so-bad side, I got a lot done this morning while he was away.

So I'll choose to embrace it... he's a big boy now.  Nothing I can do to change it.
I'm so excited for the handsome, smart and outgoing big boy he's become.

Vacation - Part 2

We had a fabulous time in Destin!!!

The only problem:  the week went by WAY too fast.

And today, it was back to the grind... hubby went back to work (although he was trying to figure out a way to get out of it), the boys are back in their normal routine, and I'm doing my Monday chore - WASHING CLOTHES.  And man, do I have a LOT of clothes to wash.

Here's a few more pics of the second half of our week.

Vacation - Part 1

We've been here since Saturday and it's been nothing but fun!

Relaxation.

We all needed some of that.

Sunday and Monday were absolutely GORGEOUS.

This morning, we woke up to thunderstorms.  But we sat on the balcony and watched them all roll past.

And by lunchtime, they had cleared out.

I'm in the room while baby sleeps.  Everyone else is beaching it up.

Excited about dinner tonight... our annual trip to McGuire's.

Here's some pics from the past few days.

My Makeup Travel Bag

Since we're headed to the land of sand and sun (hopefully it'll be sunny.... "boo" for rain),
I thought I'd share my makeup travel bag with you.

I purchased the travel bag (not necessarily for travel, but I thought it'd work well for me) at Wal-Mart last week.  It's made by the good ol' Caboodles brand.

It's TOO cute.  And I like that it's a hard case.  Very sturdy.

It opens up to a nice sized mirror and several little slip-compartments for brushes or eyeliners.  I just chose not to use them.

The top tray has 2 long sections.  I decided to store my brushes here, since they fit perfectly.  I also have my eyeliners, along with some other essentials I never leave home without... scissors, nail files and buffers, etc.

Below that is 4 sections (the divider is not permanently glues down, which is actually a good thing - it'll kind of shift a little to make more room if needed).

In the first section, I have my mascaras and tweezers.

In the next section, I have my Colorstay Whipped Foundation.  It takes up a bit of room, but I have to have it in the hot Destin weather.
I also have my powder, eye makeup remover, and Benefit's SunBeam.

3rd, I have my eyeshadows.  The Naked palette is on top, since that's the only place it'll fit.  I figured it would be the perfect palette to bring, since you can do so many looks with it.

But here, I have Painterly Paint Pot and shadows from Hard Candy, Wet-n-Wild, along with my bronzer and blushes from e.l.f. and Merle Norman.

Last, more foundations and concealers.  Merle Norman tinted moisturizer and Aquabalance, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind, PhotoReady concealer and Garnier Dark Circle roller.

I think I'm pretty much covered.  Not too much, but everything I think I could possibly need!

Hope you have a great weekend... I'll have my toes in the sand!
