Week 35 Update

Today's my birthday... and I'll be spending it at the doctor.

But my sweet hubby did take the day off to spend with me and Jase.  After the doctor, he's treating me to lunch and a foot rub.  I cannot describe how utterly excited I am about that!!!

Baby this week:
- He's running out of room!!!  Weighing in at 5 1/4 pounds and measuring about 18 inches.
- No more somersaults, but his kicks and punches feel deadly at times!!
- His kidneys are now fully developed and his liver can process waste.
-Most of his basic physical development is complete.  Chances are he'd be just fine if born now, but we'll see if we can wait another week or so.
- He'll spend the rest of this time just packing on weight.

Mommy this week:
I'm hanging in there.  Lots more pressure, as he's head down and VERY low.  When I went last week for my ultrasound, the tech said, "Wow.  He's low.  If you sneeze too hard, you might just have a baby!"  Tell me something I don't already know.  One more week and I can stop the Procardia and home monitoring.  Then one week after that, I can come off of bed rest.... and we're walking this baby out!!!

I'm SO MORE THAN READY to be back to normal..... I'll have a post coming soon about that.

Doctor's appointment today and Thursday.  I'll keep you posted on any new developments.

Week 34 Update

Sorry I missed last week's update, but that whole week is a blur... being in the hospital, on those crazy meds, there's no way I could've done a post.  So here goes....

Baby this week:
-Jett probably weighs close to 5 pounds (the ultrasound we had in the hospital last week estimated 4 1/2 pounds, so this is probably pretty accurate) and measures almost 18 inches.
-His central nervous system is maturing and his lungs are continuing to develop.  He did receive 2 steroid doses in the hospital to help with his little lungs.
-Before now, preterm labor was a big deal.  Now that we've reached the 34 week mark, chances are he'd be just fine if he decided to make his appearance.  But we'll hope he decides to stay put for a few more weeks.

Mommy this week:
-Still hanging in there.  Bed rest is NO FUN.  I have been cheating a little, but the doctor says I'm doing good.  No changes in dilation.
-Going to the doctor twice a week from here on out... that should keep me busy.

Not Shaken

Last night, as I was siting in the bathtub (which is not even comfortable these days), just thinking, praying and listening to the peace and quiet, a song came to my mind.

Even when my plans get turned upside down, He's always in control.  He's never shaken.

I am sinking in a river that is raging.
I am drowning
Will I ever rise to breathe again?
I wanna know why.
I just wanna understand.
Will I ever know why?
How could this be from Your hand?

When every little thing that I had dreamed would be
just slips away like water through my hands,
And when it seems the walls of my beliefs
are crashing down like they're all made of sand,
I won't let go of you now because I know
You're not shaken.

I am trembling in the darkness of my own fear.
All the questions with no answers,
so grip me while I'm here.
And I may never know why.
Oh I may not understand.
But I will lift up my eyes,
and trust this is Your plan.

When every little thing that I had dreamed would be
just slips away like water through my hands,
And when it seems the walls of my beliefs
are crashing down like they're all made of sand,
I won't let go of you now because I know
You're not shaken.

When I am in the valley or the shadow of death
You're not shaken
You're not shaken
You're right here beside me
and You have never left
You're not shaken
You're not shaken

When every little thing that I had dreamed would be
just slips away like water through my hands,
And when it seems the walls of my beliefs
are crashing down like they're all made of sand
I won't let go of you now because I know
You're not shaken.

NOT in my plans!!!

Well, good news:  I'm home.  The doctor released me yesterday to come home - but on bed rest.

I am NOT loving this.

At least they have allowed me to get up and do SOME things.... I can get up for a few minutes at a time.  But nothing major.

Jase is adjusting pretty good, but it's taking him some time to get used to the fact that things are different.  I think it bothers me more than it does him, though.

It's going to be a long few weeks.  I just keep reminding myself it'll all be worth it.

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, and then twice a week for the remainder of my pregnancy.  Also, got set up today with a home monitoring system to watch contractions.

I'll keep you posted.

A little delay

DISCLAIMER:  I apologize for any typos.  Muscle relaxers and computers don't mix.

so I know I told you I'd update you... I had a little "problem" arise.

But first, the story about my blog name:

Early Sunday morning, like wee hours of the morning, I was awake.  Wide awake.  I had not been feeling good that night, and then woke up with heartburn (as usual) but couldn't go back to sleep.  So instead of laying in the bed and staring at the ceiling, I decided to get up.  But as I was deciding what to do to pass the time, a song and name popped into my head.  I had been lying there praying (something I do lots of nights when I can't seem to sleep) thanking the Lord for the may blessings in my life.  3 of the most important things: my boys.  I couldn't make it a day without them (and one of them I've yet to meet).

That's when it hit me.  A few years ago, I put together a slide show of pictures of Jase's first years to Jack Johnson's song "Better Together."  That song immediately popped into my head and I couldn't get it out.  Last week, I had been playing with the name of my blog, but I really still wasn't dead set on it.  It just wasn't "clicking."  But this clicked.  We ARE better together.

So I might make a few more changes, obviously once Jett makes his arrival, but that's it.

better together.

NOW THEN, on to the second part of the story.  I mentioned I wasn't feeling well Saturday night.  Sunday morning I still wasn't feeling well but managed to make it to church (barely) on time.  I felt better once I got there.  Sang for an hour.  Then went to sit down for the sermon.  As soon as I sat down, I started feeling "icky."  Hot and dizzy with a terrible stomach ache.  I ASSUMED it was the same thing I'd been dealing with since the night before.  But I made my way to the Common area and sat for awhile.  I noticed that I was having lots of Braxton Hicks contractions.... but every time I would contract, my stomach would hurt terribly.  After timing them for a while (2-3 minutes apart) I decided to call the doctor.  Of course, they made me come in to be monitored.

Monitoring showed I was definitely having contractions.... which is not good @ 32 weeks.  I was also dilated 3 centimeters.

So they admitted me and I've been here ever since.... lots of medicine to try and stop the contractions (which has been successful today) and we're hoping I can be weaned off the meds tomorrow and possibly go home Wednesday.  CROSSING MY FINGERS that things go well tomorrow!!

finally found it

As you can see, I've changed my blog name - AGAIN!!!

There's a reason.... I'll tell you about it tomorrow.

Good advice

Advice from a fellow blogger...

I saw this on Facebook and had to share.  If you are a mother of sons, you must read!  It's great advice and so true!  And it's also a tear jerker - or it could just be my hormones.

Enjoy!

Week 32 Update

Doctor's appointment tomorrow!!!  Can't wait to hear that heartbeat and see what they have to say.  I'm thinking I'll get another ultrasound soon and would LOVE THAT!!  Also thinking they may start seeing me once a week at this point.  But I'll keep you posted.

Baby this week:
-Jett should be weighing in at about 4 pounds and measuring almost 17 inches.  He sure is packing on the weight these days!
-I should be gaining about a pound a week at this point, most of that going straight to baby.  However, I'm not stepping on a scale to see if it's true.  I'd rather not know! :)
-He now has toenails, fingernails, and hair!  I wonder what color it is!!!
-His skin is becoming soft and smooth, getting ready for his big appearance.  I can't wait to pinch those baby soft cheeks!

Mommy this week:
-An interesting fact: to accommodate Jett's needs, my blood volume has increased 40-50% over the last 7 months.
-Not so interesting but VERY AGGRAVATING symptoms:  heartburn, not being able to breathe, no sleep, lower back pain -  I've got them all!!!

Just a few more weeks.  I can do this!

These are a few of my favorite things....

I purchased some new products recently and I am loving them.  Just thought I'd share them with you.

To start, my makeup station was becoming a tad cluttered.  I had several new products that I had purchased, as well as old standbys, that were just laying around (since I use them pretty much everyday).  So I needed some organization.  We are moving soon, so I thought this might help me out once we are in my grandmother's house.  I won't have my makeup station while we're living there (so sad) and will probably be doing my makeup in the bathroom.  So to save on counter space, I figured I needed a new method of organization.

I found these cute little containers at Wal-Mart about a week ago.  I intended on buying cheaper, "office-y" type containers, but these were just too cute to pass up.

The box container has several different sized dividers and is perfect for my eyeshadow/blush palettes.  They stand up perfectly and I can get to them much easier than before.  And all of my "everyday" products fit right in, also.  It holds my foundation, powder, blush, eye primer, concealor, and a few "go-to" eyeshadows.  And I still have a few extra spaces I'm sure I'll fill up at some point.  I love that it's all organized and in reach.  I don't have to go digging through drawers anymore!

I filled the brush containers with bead/filler stuff (I've also seen people use coffeebeans - which I might try one day).  I purchased 2:  one for face brushes and one for eye brushes.

That brings me to my first new purchase - which actually was a gift.  One of the only things I wanted for Christmas was a Sigma brush set.  And I was SO HAPPY to get it!  I have used them every day since Christmas and I am in love with them.  Yes, I have "cheap" brushes that I still use regularly and would definitely recommend, but it really makes a difference when you have quality brushes to apply your makeup.

This is the foundation routine I've been using for the past 2 months or so.  TiffanyD on Youtube recommended this foundation a while back and I thought I'd give it a try.  I love trying new drugstore foundations.  I had seen this one before, but it seemed to gimmicky to waste my money on.  But I'm glad I went for it.  I wouldn't go as far as to say it's my favorite foundation, or the best I've ever tried, but I do love it.

Maybelline Instate Age Rewind Eraser Foundation and Concealor

This foundation stays on well and has light to medium coverage, but is build-able.  It is very light in texture and glides on smoothly.  I think it would be great for summertime, if the staying power will last through Alabama heat, because it is so lightweight.  It feels like SKIN, not like a mask of makeup.

The best part of this duo is definitely the concealor.  I had been using the Garnier Dark Circle Eye Roller for months.  But I heard this was even better.  It really lives up to the hype.  It is an amazing under eye concealor.  Now, if you have dramatic dark circles, you might find that you need something with a little more coverage.  My dark circles are pretty prominent (especially after no sleep) and I find this concealor does the trick.  I've also been using it on my acne spots (on the cheek area where I have some discoloration for pregnancy/hormone breakouts) and it covers great!

The only downside I have to these products is the packaging.  It's a very neat concept.  You twist the top of the product (both foundation and concealor) and the product is pushed up into the sponge tip applicator.  You simply swipe it or dot it on the areas needed.  I have not had a problem with the foundation.  However, about a week after I purchased them, the concealor stopped working correctly.  The "twister" is broken.  I'm still using it, and I make it work.  But it is frustrating.  Maybe I just got a lemon.  But it might deter me from buying another one.  I do, however, like the fact that you can see the product through the packaging as it twists down.  You can really tell how much product is left in the container.

The powder I've been using since the summertime (and now am using with this foundation routine) is called Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder.  I love this stuff!!!  It has good coverage and I find that I don't have to reapply during the day.  I do have oily skin and I find that it really does keep me pretty matte throughout the day.  There's not a huge color selection, especially for darker skin.  So during the summer, if you get very dark, you might have a hard time finding the perfect shade for you.

Next, I purchased this Revlon Satin Eyeshadow in Nude Slip.  This is a great neutral color.  It can be worn on the lid, in the crease, or all over for a wash of color.  It has a really nice finish, satin-y.  Not shimmery, but not matte.  Just perfect.

I've been wearing it lately with a cream shadow underneath (a shimmery champagne color by Wet-n-Wild IdolEyes) and just simply packing it on the lid.  Then putting a shade slightly darker (Toasted from the Naked Palette) in the crease.  It's perfect for an everyday, daytime look.

Another thing I wanted for Christmas (I've actually wanted for a long time) is the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in the color Exposed.  It's a slightly pink but very nude color.  However, I haven't been able to find it!!  And I don't want to order it online.  When I was at Sephora recently and they were still out of stock, I decided to find something similar.  So I went to MAC.  I don't have too many MAC products, but would like to try more.  This blush jumped out at me.  It looks very similar and the sales girl agreed.  It's called Tenderling.  I love it.  It doesn't have a whole lot of color, but it's just enough.  Looks very "healthy" and not overdone.

Then, I was cruising the makeup aisles at Wal-Mart and ran across this blush.  I really do like Rimmel products.  And I thought this looked interesting.  It's in the shade Spring Flower.  It's marketed as a blush and highlighter.  Nice concept, but it's hard to sweep your brush through them separately.  So I just blend them together.  It makes the perfect color.  Very similar to the MAC blush, but a tad darker and more mauve.  Really loving it!

So that's just a few things I've been loving lately.  I hope to do more of these posts in the future.  I just love makeup SO MUCH.

Hope you enjoyed and decide to try some of these products!!

New Name

In case you haven't noticed, my blog has a new name and address.... no more Three's Company.

It was kind of sad, but I figured Jett would not be happy if he wasn't included.

I was also going to ask for suggestions on a name.  I couldn't come up with anything!

But Monday, I had time on my hands and figured I might as well go ahead and think of something before my ideas got taken by someone else.  And I still ran into that problem.  Several of the ones I wanted were already used.

So here it is...

baby makes 4 - life with my boys.

Now, to come up with a new car tag before August! :)

Week 31 Update

I made it another week.... but not sure I'll make it 9 more.

UNCOMFORTABLE and CONTRACTIONS - those are the words.  Braxton Hicks, I assume.  But I have them pretty much all day long.  But the doctor says not to worry.

I'm really excited to have my first doctor's appointment where they'll examine me.  I just have this strange feeling that we'll be in the same boat as we were with Jase.  I was shocked to find out at 35 weeks that I was already dilated!  We'll see what happens this time.

Baby this week:
-Jett's measuring in at over 16 inches long and weighing about 3 1/2 pounds.
-He's heading into a growth spurt.  Great!  I don't think there's any room left (but I remember saying that last time, too).
-He can turn his head from side to side.
-His arms and legs are starting to plump up as fat accumulates under his skin.
-He's moving a LOT, and sleeping is a thing of the past.

My next doctor's appointment is January 11th.  And then I'll more than likely start going every week.  I also am hoping they'll do another ultrasound soon.  (Chances are, they will at some point due to the gestational diabetes.)  I wanna see his little face!
