Sweet Treats

My sister has a friend who owns a local company here in Birmingham called Icing on the Cookie.  They make custom decorated cookies.  She stops by often to bring Jase a treat from their shop.

This year, for the holidays, they were making bundles of cookies to decorate yourself!

Jase and I frosted and decorated his cookies this morning.  I think they turned out great!

Week 28 Update

I'm a little late today... I've been at the doctor all morning.

I failed both of my glucose tests, so today I had a class on Gestational Diabetes where I learned lots of things about managing my sugar during pregnancy, as well as received a meter to check my sugar each day.

Fun Fun.

So here is this week's update.

Baby this week:
-Jett now weights about 2 1/4 pounds and measures about 14.8 inches from head to heel.
-He can blink, has eyelashes, and his eyesight is developing.  He can even see some light filtering through my belly.
-Billions of neurons are developing in his brain and he's adding more body fat (but not too much, we hope).

Mommy this week:
-Doing pretty good... just trying to get over the news of Gestational Diabetes.
-It's just 2 1/2 more months... I CAN DO THIS!!  No worries.
-After gaining a good bit of weight during the last trimester, I'm hoping to keep this trimester's weight gain at a minimum.... all baby, not me!  I'm thinking my new diet will help.
-UNCOMFORTABLE!  That's how I'm feeling.  And I know I have a long way to go (not really a LONG way, but long enough).  Trying not to complain too much.  Counting my blessings.

Sammy's First Week

So far, Sammy hasn't done anything very interesting or "creative" with his stunts.  But he's gonna get better... he told me so.

Sammy (and Jase) spent the night with Grandmommy and Pop twice this week, so he was up to trouble at their house, too.

Week 27 Update

Baby this week:
-Jett now weighs about 2 pounds - the size of a head of cauliflower.
-He's measuring about 14 1/2 inches long, with legs extended.
-He's now waking and sleeping at regular intervals.... and I have noticed this.
-His brain is very active now, and his lungs are developed enough that he could survive on the outside - but we'll keep him in there for a little longer.
-He's had his first case of hiccups, which is something that will be happening much more often now.

Mommy this week:

I had my glucose screening test yesterday.  I failed.  And I'm kind of upset about that.  I don't know much about it, and I'm not quite sure why I didn't pass.  But I will go back Friday for the 3 hour test.  Hoping it turns out with better results.

He's back.....

He finally made his appearance.

The next few Saturdays will be devoted to Sammy and his shenanigans.

It's the most wonderful time...

We are finally ready for Christmas in our house....

except for the fact that I haven't done any shopping.  No presents bought, but the tree is ready!

And I must say, I was dreading decorating this year... actually, I usually always dread it.  But I just couldn't stand the thoughts of having to pull it all out this year.  So I talked my hubby into helping.

I usually do it all by myself.  My mother had offered to help me this year.  But this past Monday, our weather was terrible.  Cold, rainy, and even some snow flurries.  So hunting was out of the picture.  Jason stayed home with us all day!  So we had no other choice but to drag out the boxes and get busy.

And I'm so happy he helped!
